For the first time this year, I had the opportunity to get out of my comfort zone of RVA and head out to Lynchburg for the Lynchburg Music Festival. This time the festival was from 11am til 9pm. LONG DAY!!!! It started out drizzling but within one hour the sun came out and stayed with us til the end.
The music was a great mix of original, cover rock, country, 80s and some beach music. I enjoyed listening to the music and again I met some great people at my little yellow tent. It was a great day to sport some wood sunglasses. Everyone that purchased them were quick to put them on and show off how awesome they looked, myself being included. This weekend SunFlipz will be at the Lake Anna Brewfest. Saturday May 16th from 12-6 at the Cutalong. Stop by and enjoy some brews and take a look at some unique wood sunglasses.

Saturday May 2nd I found myself in a sea of white tents. My little yellow tent that could, was 2nd in line of vendors at the Big Field Day hosted by XL102 and I Heart Media. It was sunny and a perfect 72 degrees to make for an excellent day for a music festival. XL102 was doing interviews with the bands and Fletcher was sporting the Forest Hill's all day at the interviews and the festival! I also met up with some of the guys and gals at RVA Beard League. They had a tent also at the festival. They repped my new aviator (Westover's) sunglasses as well, and SunFlipz will be donating and helping support their next event. Boldly Grow! I also met the owner of RVA Vapes, she bought some SunFlipz Wood Sunglasses, the Shockoes i think. it was a busy day and my memory is not as good as it used to be.
It was a long but very fun day. I met many new friends and got a chance to talk about SunFlipz sunglasses and more with quite a few people that stopped by. I took some photos as well and chatted up with the other vendors there. Next week we will be at Lynchburg Music Festival Second festival is on the books. We were down at the Great ShipLock Park near the canal in Richmond, Va. It was a beautiful day and I met some great people down at my spot. Several people tried on and commented on my sunglasses so it was a very positive event. It was wonderful talking to everyone and seeing how much they were enjoying the day. I did not get a chance to see everything as I was alone at my table all day, but I did see and hear some great things going on all day.
I only have one picture ( I need to iron my tablecloth!) of the day and that was from early on in the event. You can see the canal behind the tent and the train trestle. Several trains came by during the day. Does anyone who was at this event have any feedback on the day? I thought it went very well and was fun for everyone. This week we will be at the Roanoke Earth Day Festival Saturday at the Wasena Park from 10am to 5pm. You can see all of our events on the on the home page at the bottom. So my first festival of 2015 is in the books. SunFlipz was a vendor at Celebration of the Vine. Wow, you couldn't ask for a better day. Sunny, 72 degrees and just awesome people everywhere. Plenty of wine was flowing and lots of people trying on, asking questions and buying SunFlipz sunglasses. Overall it was a wonderful day. I met lots of great people. I took a few pictures of people as they bought and put on their new wood sunglasses from SunFlipz. This is the first time out for the year and I need to tweak my table set up and add maybe one more sign.
We will be at the Richmond EarthDay Festival at Great Shiplock park in Richmond April 18th from 11am to 5pm. Lots of great activities for the entire family. Hope to see you there! When I first started the idea of building my own sunglasses biz, I had a problem. I had to come up with names for each style. I hate coming up with names. I always second guess my initial name and change it at the last minute and than regret my change. Well, I had to come up with 7 names for each style of sunglasses. SEVEN! I was panicked, stressed and dumbfounded. Finally I came up with using local land-markers to help me out. At first I thought of using the streams around Richmond. What? Yeah streams. You can get an idea right there of why i stress about this. I finally came up with using the hills of Richmond. They are somewhat famous. In fact the Cowboy Junkies wrote a song about one of them while they were here at VCU. Oregon Hill |
