PLANK has teamed up with the Baums while they trek across the US in their Prius. Talk about keeping a small footprint while you camp across the US. We will be catching up with them as they trek along the Rio Grande, Eagles Nest Lake NM, Painted Desert AZ and more! Below are some of the stops along the way. 

 PLANK Eyewear is a proud supporter of the National Forest Foundation’s (NFF) tree planting program, where every dollar donated plants a tree in our National Forests.
The National Forest Foundation works to restore America’s 193-million-acre National Forest System. For every pair of PLANK Eyewear sold, we will contribute a dollar to the NFF to plant a tree in a National Forest.

We are super proud to donate a part of our sales to help the NFF tree planting program. If you can imagine that one tree will create many sunglasses and for every sunglasses we well we will plant one tree. PLANK Eyewear is happy to do our part. 

One of my first jobs as a teenager was planting saplings in the forest. It was a blistering hot sunny day and I learned the valuable lesson of sun block. I am pretty sure I got a 2nd degree burn on my shoulder and got paid maybe 2cents per tree I planted! Lesson learned but something I enjoyed doing. I wish my gardening skills were better though!

Wow am I late on 2018. I have been super busy preparing for the 2018 festival circuit and we have added a few new sites to our agenda. We might be going down as far as Jacksonville FLA! Hello sun and beaches! Our first festival will be the Shramrock the Block here in RVA in Scotts Addition. We always seem to start out with this festival in March. Since my last update we have been to several festivals on the weekends. Rock on the Range music festival in Ohio, Vintage Virginia Wine festival, Beer Bourbon BBQ in RVA and Baltimore's National Harbor and we just finished up with the Bacon Festival at the 17th street market in RVA. 

Next on our festival rotation is NOVA Brewfest and the Chesapeake Crab and beer fest this weekend. with Red White and Brew, Horse and Hound, Purceville food and wine festival, Beer bourbon and BBQ in Cary NC and Dragonboat festival rounding out July. 

We just got in some wood fidget spinners that we will be selling only at our festivals. My daughter talked me into it so children will have something to buy when they come to our booth. We have a few new styles and more coming in bamboo and wood sunglasses

Friday night I was worried about the rain and potential for a very muddy and cold saturday at the Hops and Barley Festival at Westchester Commons.  Saturday came and it was raining early so i presumed the worst. I packed my rain coat, doubled up on layers and took off my socks. 

Soon the band started and people got into the field and began their journey to find the best brew. The sun started to peek out and it was getting nicer and nicer until around 3pm it was a beautiful sunny and now warm day. PLANK had some great neighbors selling whiskey soaked cigars and Strangeways brewery on the other side. All in all it turned out to be a great day!

PLANK is excited to now offer new styles and additions to some your favorites. Check out our new 2017 summer collection.  These include the new style Roseneath which is made from layered maple wood which makes it thinner but keeps the strength of one wood frames.  We added a Skateboard wood frame to our old Oregon Hill style. You will be sure to enjoy the vibrant colors and mixture of zebra wood temples that come with each pair. They have been very popular at the few festivals we have debuted them at. 

We are already working on adding to the 2017 Summer Collection that will be available by July of this year. New aviator and more layered maple wood frames will be added. 

Our next festival will be April 28th at the Apple Blossom Festival in Shenendoah. This will be our first year and it already looks like it will be very fun and exciting. The weather will hopefully be better than this last Saturday where it rained all day. 

 We are happy to announce that PLANK Eyewear is adding a new 2017 collection of wood and bamboo sunglasses to its current offerings. We are bringing back the Gamble style and adding a few new options to the Forest Hill as well as adding a new style which is currently unnamed. Maybe you can help name it? Leave a comment below if you want to help name our new style. 

This Saturday April 22nd  we will be up in in Leesburg for the Great Beer Festival. We have been there for 2 years and always have a great time in Leesburg. Great location for a beer festival. Lets hope the weather stays dry! We will be showcasing our new and updated styles at this festival. If you are nearby stop in and check them out. We are very excited to have these new sunglasses available for our new customers as well as our old customers. 

Saturday March 18th turned out to be a perfect day for a festival. Mid 60s light wind and plenty of people checking out our wares. I think it may have even reached into the low 70s for a second or two. It was a family affair as I brought wife and daughter along to help or shop im not sure what they did most. It was nice to have some company as I normally do these smaller events by myself.

The stage was nearby so we were able to watch the bands and see everyone get their head shaved for a great cause. I did not partake in the shaving of my head. I think my wife was glad i didn't.  

There was a small petting zoo and I couldn't leave without a selfie with the animals. I got a few with these beautiful llamas. There was a goat that was very friendly and enjoyed a good scratch around the ears. 

Next week April 1st we will be in Chesterfield for the Spring Brew Thing at Chesterfield Town Center. 12-6. Sample from Virginia craft breweries, partake from some of your favorite Richmond area food trucks, enjoy an afternoon of great music and of course stop by our tent and check out some new wooden sunglass styles we just got in. We are sure you will enjoy them. 

We just finished our first festival of the season at Shamrock the Block in Scotts Addition Richmond Va. It was CCCCCCOOOOOLLLLLLDDDDD. Like 44 degrees cold in the sun. Well the sun disappeared from our side of the street around 2pm and it really got cold. Not ideal sunglasses weather but it was sunny so I was able to talk to and even sell some PLANK wood sunglasses to some great customers who braved the icy wind and walk down to our tent.  Our next festival is coming up this Saturday in Innsbrook- St Paddys Day Palooza on the 18th. I am hoping for warmer weather for sure! Stop by and check out our new wood bow ties and lapel pins.
