Baking and gardeningGrow your own garden. Bake your own bread. Sew clothes for your family. Sometimes we take for granted what is right in front of us. Instead of relying on other for necessities, we can do many of them ourselves. Now, some of us might not have a green thumb or great sewing skills but these can be learned. Cut back on manufactured goods and use what is available. You will find you can if you put your mind to it. Buy sustainable productsIf you are buying products for your house, apparel or transportation, think about how you can buy the same product but it being made by sustainable resources or leaves a smaller carbon footprint. For example those that need "last mile transportation' from train station to bus or house you may find having a electric scooter would be a great fit. No gas or oil and it is small enough when folded to carry with you on a bus or train. No need for a cab or uber ride. At PLANK we use sustainable wood and bamboo resources for our wood framed sunglasses. We also donate to the National Forest Foundation for every pair we sell. We help plant more trees than we use for our products by a large margin. We try to use very little plastic or non recyclable items for our business and use as much recycled products as we can. We are always looking for ways to cut back on non renewable energies.
